Uninstalling lift

Hey Everyone!
I just bought a 1st gen 88 4runner. The previous owner installed a lift just before he told it to me. I want to remove the lift for several reasons, but I am a little hesitant because i'm not sure if any brackets/hardware has been cut, modified, or removed. When completed would I be able to retain any of the components to save money or should I plan on buying all new products separately (doubt standard lift kits are available). Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Welcome

Do some basic lift homework and figure out what type you have - suspension lift, body lift, etc. Likely it's still an IFS truck and has a 4" bracket lift, maybe even with a body lift combined. If you literally google image search the lifts for your vehicle you will see the pics of the components and you can compare to yours. From there you can look at installation and basically reverse the steps for removal in most cases. You can also post up some pics and we can help you absolutely can't figure out what kind of lift you're dealing with, but if you're THAT clueless then you may want to hire someone to do this job...BUT you found this site so there's light at the end of the tunnel!

Is there a particular reason you want it gone?

Post up pics!

Straight on underneath the front (could have bracket lift 4-6")

Then look at A arms you could have ball joint spacers (1.5" spacers but yield more lift)

Body lift look for large spacers under the body between the body and frame. (Any where from 1"-3" usually- rubber bushings are normal)

Check out 4crawler he has "body lift removal kits" and tons of info on types of lifts and what additional things you need to install those lifts (therefore what u need to uninstall it properly)

Good luck!

Post pics!

Easy fix

Just sell it to someone who appreciates a lifted Toyota and buy one that hasn't been modified.

Just remove all IFS stuff and SAS it!! Then go longer springs in rear. Done and easy fix!!

isn't SAS'n a rig still answer for every thing? You guys are slipping

x2 figure out what you have and research installation, then decide if you want to remove. Several things could cause issues. IE, if it's geared for larger tires then remove the clearance for tire swap in small tires you will prolly loose highway speeds.
