i was checking my EGR system because i have a code 71. while looking under the hood i saw 2 hoses that appear to go nowhere.

motor is a 3vze.

first hose is a vacuum hose from the ps pump. there are 2 hoses attaching to the pumps air control valve. both were hooked up at the valve itself and followed through this rubber shield up around the rats nest of vacuum hoses by the EGR. one of them is hooked up to something (i didnt follow it) but the other hose was just dangling there. Is this hose supposed to be connected to something? i cant seem to find it in the FSM power steering section.

the other mystery hose is coming off of the PAIR valve. attached to the PAIR valve is this aluminum box thing. at the top of this box are 2 vacuum hoses in the shape of an upside down L. one of the connections goes to what i think is the idle up valve (near the VSV's...it has a big flathead screw on it with a spring). The other side is what im tring to figure out. somebody just put a piece of hose dangling there.

any thoughts about these hoses? i cant find anything easily in the FSM. i can usually find the valve, but not a description of where the hoses attach. itd be better if the FSM had note like "...to power steering reservoir" with an arrow or something.
