Two Part Specific 22RE Header Question

#1 - I picked up a brnad new Pacesetter header yesterday for a 22R/RE that has never been used. The part # is 70-1188 which is supposed to be for a 84-89 p/u and 4runner. My truck is a 92.

My question is: Can I use this header? What are the differences in the motor, set-up etc.?

#2 - As far as using a header. I have read and seen a buddy of mine use a header on a 22RE (p/u) and he got rid of the "tubes" that aspirate the exhaust of whatever they do. Can you just cap these off? Will it throw codes?

Thanks

Typically it's fitment issues with the frame and body, not the fact it's the same motor.

Lots of folks block off or remove those exhaust feedback tubes.

I think that tube is for the air suction system which injects air into the exhaust to help oxidation or somethin like that. That little pipe that comes from the intake box to some kind of canister beside the intake is part of it and theres a few vaccum hoses that go along with it to. As far as i know you can get rid of all that, just remember to plug and block off everything. But it might not pass emissions in some states, I dont know, I live in NC where if your car is older than a '96 model than all you really gotta do is have some working lights and you pass inspection

Those tubes are part of the EGR system, right? I've heard of people removing that system so I don't think it would be a problem to remove them. I don't think the body is that much different for the 92 model. Maybe a little fitment with a heat shield, but nothing other than that.....

22RE Header

It would appear that the "aspirator" can be disregarded altogether. Does anybody know it's specific purpose? I'm sure Toyota put it there for a reason but is it necessary?
