Turn signals wont work

ok I have a 94 T100 3.0 and I noticed recently that the turn signal right next to the headlight never works on both sides. When I stick a meter on them I get maybe 1 volt (yes the blinker is on as well as the key). the lower signal, on the bumper, works fine but is only getting maybe 9 volts at best, usually only about 5 but it switches on and off so fast I dont know if that is a good reading or not.

Out of curiosity I tested the continuity form the lower to the upper and with both lights out of the connectors I get continutiy from both wires to each of the others this doesnt seem right to me as the green wire is voltage and the white is ground right? I think something is shorted. any help?

Also I tried to remove the plastic cover thats on the inside of the fender to get access to the wires but it has these stupid plastic clips, which I dont want to break, anyone got tips for removing these without breaking them? They have a plastic washer with legs that go into a square hole with a plastic phillips screw but the screw doesnt do anything but prevent you from popping the clip out. I have dealt with similar clips before and all I had to do was turn like a 1/4 turn and it would pop out enough to stop spreading the clip and the whole thing would pop out with little effort but not this time. I dont want to break these but im almost to that point. Please help TIA.

The lights next to the headlight are not turn signals. They are only marker lights. They should never ever blink.

Btw, for the lights to be on AND have a blink feature, you would need 3 wires, not just two.

And why are you trying to take the fender liner off to remove the light? Just take off the two two screws holding it onto the grill, and the light pops right off.

I am not taking them off to get to the lights just the wires. But I guess that answers my question. I would really like them to function as blinkers too maybe ill wire them up to do it. However, they never turn on even when all my lights are turned on, bulbs are good, and isnt it strange that I get continuity from ones V+ to the others ground? especially since the bulbs are pulled thereby opening the circuit?

I'm currently having electrical issues still as well my driver side marker light isn't working but it is connected to my fog lights. i have a relay but for some reason current doesn't go through. i looked on the chiltons manual for your t100 and my runner. all i can think of is check all your fuses and circut breakers along with the wiring. if you have questions about where anything is i can look it up for you. My chiltons covers pick-ups/land cruisers/ 4runner from 1989-96. OH...Check for pinched wires that's what my initial problem was and it narrowed it down alot.

yea I have the haynes manual, thanks though. I havent looked at the wiring diagrams yet though because I a wiring up some leds in place of my signal bulbs right now they work great and consume so much less power, more for my amp

I think I will just re wire the side markers to blink with the directionals. Its like 1 foot of wire to do. when im done ill post pics.

You are likely out of blinker fluid. This may be the right opportunity to upgrade to synthetic.

But really, it's probably a bad connection somewhere.

ummm, aren't you supposed to put in-line resistors in those little LED bulbs when hooking them to 12 volts? There only suppose to take like 5 volts, maybe 7 max if I remember right. I mean, they may work now, but chances are they'll burn out very quickly.

That's the reason I just bought direct replacement LED bulbs pre-resistored that plugged right in instead of doing all that with my LED tail lights, turn signals, blinkers, dome light, and dash lights.

Also, the lower power needed for the LED blinkers makes them flash twice as flash; or in my case, I rewired an aftermarket flasher and now they actually blink half as fast as stock, lol.

I don't think the single bulb headlights are bright enough yet, those bulbs are mainly for the low power daytime running lights (DRLs). I run LED backup lights (30 LED narrow beam pattern) and they work very well, in part due to the internal reflectors in the LEDs (the stock reverse light reflector is almost a joke):

yeah, I have aftermarket tail lights that have a better reflector back, but I only have LEDs in the tails and signals; the reverse lights are just some HELLA 50 watt 1156's I found in a parts store

I have sylvania sliverstars for headlights. I just drilled a hole for a single led in the side markers to replace the parking light I took out for the new turn signals. I hot glued it and it was fine.

They do flash a little faster and I am going to figure that out Im guessing it is because the tiny load the led's require. Gonna do the back this weekend.
