turn signals don't work - 88 4runner
well, I was moving my turn signals up into my side marker lights after putting on a new bumper, and I mixed up my hot and ground wires for the turn signal. all hell broke loose for a few seconds when I turned the signals on (brake lights started blinking, dash lights blinking) then obviously something blew because the turn signals don't work at all now. here's what I know:
- the hazard lights still work perfectly normal, turn signals don't.
- the bulbs are not burned out
- the flasher is fine. (I tested it in my other truck)
- I can't find a blown fuse anywhere
- the two breakers next to the fuse box/flasher have continuity so they seem fine.
any ideas? its got to be a fuse or something somewhere, but maybe I fried some other component when I shorted out the turn signal?

Your hazards and turn signals have two different power sources but the bulbs share common grounds as well as all the wiring after the two switches. If your hazards work (the actual lights blink) then you can rule out grounds, and faulty wiring as they are common in both circuits.
Check your Turn fuse (10A), sometimes they look fine but are blown...It is in your kick panel. The only other component that could be the issue is your combination switch, but hopefully it is that pesky fuse.
Out of curiosity do your wipers still work? They receive power from the same source as the turn signals although are fused independently obviously.

Signals don't work, intermittent wipers don't work, wiper sprayers don't work
I have a 1990 4Runner sr5, 3L, automatic. The turn signals, the intermittent wiper, and the wiper sprayers all do not work. My mechanic has narrowed it down to the combination signal/wiper assembly that goes in the steering column. My VIN calls for part number 84310-35400. This is the combo switch that does not have the rear wiper option. This part is discontinued, I can't find it anywhere. Part number 84310-35480 is the same part for the models with a rear wiper. My question is, will this part work, does it have the same wiring harness configuration? Could I get this part and not hook up the rear wiper part since there isn't one? If it is compatible, it would be a good modification because I could have the rear wiper wired and installed?

Hi Sean43 and AKyotajunky,
I do not have a second-gen 4Runner but am wondering IF indeed the turn signal and the wiper switch assemblies are on one module because they're separate systems. Have you verified?

I would not replace that part, yet.
Toyota components are bullet-proof. MOST OFTEN it is the way they are connected/assembled that cause problem.
IF someone could share schematic of the I have a 1990 4Runner sr5, 3L, automatic.. we can see.
