I've been called a cheap B@$^@&d on many occasions because I hate spending money on stuff I can build... I have 3 different choices of material to use for building my next top mount turbo manifold. 1- 1 3/4" .125 DOM tubing. 2- 1 5/8" .083 Chromolly tubing. or 3- not sure if it's 316 or 305 (or a combination) ~.055 sanitary stainless. Which would be the best material to go with... The stainless would be bling, bling but is it thick enough to withstand the heat? Would the Chromoly be thick enough also? bender die capable of doing 180* so it would make it simple for me. DOM 1 3/4" die is only 90* capable but i have no problem welding....I realy love the Steed Speed manifold but they are for the wrong type of turbo I'm running (supra ct 26) and the price is way to high for me when I can at least attempt to build something myself for practicaly nothing... btw I already have the flange cut, drilled and bolted to a junk, but straight head so it doesn't warp when I start welding. Flange is only 1/4 inch stainless but was free. I want to get this done along with my exocage... Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks

Oh one more thing, the stainless would be 2". My only options for that are 1.5 or 2" od and I think the 1.5" would be too small.

I would go with the SS, but it is on the thin side. You might have to brace or make a support for it. I would use a thicker flange.

thanks, Saw that writeup in all my various web searches. Will be using that method or Something close to build mine although I have to wrap it around further. the CT 26 exhaust flange points more toward the driver side fender than the ground, but still the same concept.

If you build the manifold then have it jet-hot coated (google it), the stainless should withstand the heat rather well.

Thanks Abe.. looks interesting, will have to check in a little more on that. price is the main concern. got another project coming up soon that I need to save up for. 4 seater, propane & turbo'd, 22r powered buggy thoughts rolling around in my head.
