turbo- 1980, or 1992 tacoma
i am a noob with toyotas. im currently looking to buy a truck for work and offroading. however, i am not a noob with performance parts, swaps, forced induction systems, etc. i did research on turboing a toyota. it would be a 90, 91, 92 tacoma.... in the article, it covered, intercooler, exhaust mani, what size turbo, oil lines, bov's, and ecu piggy backs. i know that for some vehicles, you have to reinforce the block by sleeving it, or get forged low compression pistons. at least for my turbo civic thats what i had to do. so im wondering if any block work has to be done such as sleeving, or low comp pistons. thanks in advance!!!

well if your going for offroading, ide go with the 1980..(SFA) but if your going for a fast pre-runner typ ide go with the taco..oddly enough theres a 22rte forum on here to you can check out to see what their ideas are n such

Welcome to YT. Theres not much out there to piggyback off the toyotas FI system as there are 3 major components and one of them is differnet than most other manufactures. u almost need a stanadalone system to do it right. the air flow meter is the oddball. it runs off wierd voltages and is alot different than most mass air flow sensors. But if you want a place to start, go with a (852wd) 86 to early 88 factory turbo truck. They do have a larger chambered head and deep dish pistons, and they do bolt up to 85 to 95 re blocks with no modifications needed (can handle up to 13 lbs boost factory fi system) other than turbo oil feed and drain lines. And tacomas weren't introduced till mid 95
