Truck won't stay running

Okay so my fuel pump went out on me a few months ago, I replaced it, and the new one went out mid-date a couple of weeks ago. (Embarrassing)

Anyway, I replaced the fuel pump yet again, and now it starts and runs fine, but when I put a load on it (ie drive a quarter mile down the road) when it goes back to idle it idles very low and chugs really bad, and eventually dies. I can keep it running by increasing the throttle, but even that tactic fails after so long. I've replaced my fuel filter, and checked my fuel pump again, and there is ample flow on both.

I'm at a loss now. It sounds like something in the fuel delivery, correct? But I do not know what else it could be.

The ONLY thing I can think of is that I recently replaced the distributor cap (troubleshooting and it needed it anyway, it was having to arc to make a connection) and the timing needs to be readjusted? But shouldn't that be a constant problem and not just after its been under load and going back to idle?

I don't know, I'm not much of a mechanic, and I have run out of things to try. I'm really frustrated at this point.

Carburetor? Check the float and maybe give it a wash out real quick. I think you can get to it fairly easy as I recall.

Runs good other than that, power loss, sputtering, ect...?

Yeah it runs fine as long as I don't put it under load. It will idle forever. I'll check the carb. Thanks!
