Question truck won't crank over

my truck has been sitting for about a week and I went out to start it and it does not crank. I can hear clicking under the hood like a solenoid but doesn't crank. The battery is fully charged, do these 89 22-re's have a solenoid switch ?

The search button is your friend. I'll get you started...haha no pun intended. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../2starterr.pdf If the relay checks out, try giving the starter a whack while turning the key.

I bet you just have a dead battery. How do you know your battery is fully charged?

Try taking the battery up to a parts store to get it checked out, just to rule it out first. I've had a lot of bad batteries show a full charge, but put a load on it and nothing.

Yeah the battery may be fully charged, but it could have bad or dead cell. Or maybe the CCA is really low.

is the starter goin out? loose or coroded battery terminals? if it's a starter prob. try turning the key between the run and start posistions 4 or 5 times really fast. that's all i can think of if it's not turning over...

i had to charge a battery last week to get one of my 4runners to start despite the voltage being pretty good. voltage is not a reliable way to check the state of a battery's charge at all. try charging it first and see if that fixes the problem. also these particular starters are prone to needing a moderate whack to remind them to work
