Truck runs poorly

hey guys so i gota a 91 pickup with the 3.0 v6. so i this just started happenening out of the blue, i start the truck and it runs horribly, it cant even idle without me gassing it, basically it runs like really bad, i have been able to drive it but it hardly behaves. It bogs and chokes and wants to die and wont go hardly 100kph. Sometimes it will start then just die and it wont start again for like 20 mins, it will start but die instantly. i dunno im thinking maybe its some sorta sensor or something? BTW i have recently got new plugs and wires and a new fuel filter. Plz help me i gotta get to work tomorow and i dont think she'll make it. thx for ne input.

You've probably tried this, but it's often the obvious things: plug wires all on correctly, plugs tight, etc.? Did it start acting up when you did the work, or sometime afterward?

no i did the plugs and wires and fuel filter about 2 months ago. i also drilled a few holes in my air box like others have done for a lil more airflow, but i only did a few and i vacuumed the shaving out.

ok i turned the key on and went to listen for the fuel pump, but im not hearing ne thing which would lead me to believe that the pumps not working but if it wasnt working then the truck wouldnt run right? also ive found that when i remove the oil cap the truck will die unless i feed it some throttle to keep it going. ive also noticed that when the truck is running it smells like its running really rich, and there is a little bit of moisture kinda like black water but it was sprayed onto my mud flap so maybe its a bit of dirt mixed with water i dunno. thx again

Sounded like mine. Do a compression test as I did on mine. I believe my HG blown but weird that it happen on three of the left side cylinder.

You can get fuel & it will run, but if the pressure isn't sufficient or the regulator is bad it can cause your symptoms without tripping any ECM codes....

I'm thinking gas delivery. I had the same thing when I had a fuel leak. It lost a ton of pressure, and would barley go. No fuel leak right? Also when you replaced your fuel filter, did you install it right? like fuel flow <---. Or did you kink a gas line?
