trouble shifting when cold

i recently changed out the transmission fluid it's a 89 dlx auto didn't have any issues before. figured i'd throw in a bottle of lucus trans oil every since then every mourning it takes forever for it to shift from 1st to 2nd. i can barely even hit 35mph.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...crewed-211862/ helps some what

I had this problem last year with my manual. A local shop tore it down for an inspection (never going there again) and reassured me that the trans was fine and they were going to put a "nice, heavy weight" oil in to help protect it. The oil was so thick that it kept me from shifting until I was able to warm it up through friction of the gears turning. Drained it and put in spec.ed weight gear oil and never had a problem again.

My manual had the same problem. I was running mobile 1 75-w90. It was too think, it was fine in the summer but when it got cold it got much thicker and was hard to shift. I put in BG synchro-shift II 75-w80 and this problem is practically non-existent now. Maybe the stuff you put into yours is too thick too.

I would drain the trans fluid and refill it with regular ATF and see if the problem goes away.

that's what i used . right before it started to get cooler it started the slow shifting so im going to just drain it out (save it) and put more back in . don't get me wrong it shifts perfect once it warms up nice and smooth you can't even feel it i'll add some back just less this time
