First time posting to the forms (mainly because I have never had problems with my truck) The other day my truck stopped shifting from gear to gear. I was driving on the highway and got stuck in 2nd, it would not even shift into neutral. I limped home and did some research, the shift bushing seemed to be a likely problem, so I replaced that in a hope that it would correct my problem. I did not have any luck. I was able to get the truck to go into neutral, but after that it was hard to get it back into 2nd and now that is the only gear I can get into. Is my transmission shot or is there something I am missing?
Another note, when I took the top cover off of the transmission, I noticed bolt shown in the picture was loose.
If that bolt is loose, I would have to say that is the problem. you need to get the shafts centered in neutral and the hole set in neutral, then lock it down with blue loctite. I'm sure the fsa has better setting procedures though.

Thus far I can't find much info in the fsm on how to get the shafts in the correct place. Any other ideas?
So that bolt does not pinch the part onto the shaft, instead the shaft is threaded and the bolt threads into it. I have attached a more detailed picture. I can get the truck to shift into 3 & 4th (I think) and I can get it into reverse.
okay..... i'm going to be as nice as i possibly can..... the bolt threads into the shaft way back there where there is a hole and threads. do it, or believe it doesn't. i would be more concerned with where the bolt went, and what it possibly could do let loose in there.
if you removed it to show me, then look in the trans rebuild section for for/shaft placement..... sometimes, all those metal shavings can get in the way. that's half the reason the drain plug is magnetic..... and large debris means it needs to come apart for repair. could be a simple $80 rebuild, or a total failure if it's gone too long.

Thanks. I did remove it to show you. I never lost the bolt into the trans. It was just loose when I originally took it apart. At this point it seems like the trans is going to have to come out regardless. For the cost of a rebuilt trans it may just be easier to put one in than try to rebuild it myself.
