I want to do a transmission swap on my 1990 pickup v6 4x4. But i dont really know Where to look for the parts and i dont know what parts i need. Can anyone help me ? The truck is automatic i want to swap it with a stick shift

Quite a few threads on here on just that.

Easy way buy a complete 5 speed truck and you have most all you need what you don`t want sell or scrap

Then pretty much remove from one and put on the other.

There are lots of little things that will come up along the way.

Punchy

Get the plug pigtails for that trans as Auto and manual use different plugs.
See if you can get the pedal bracket assembly as there different from Auto and manual.


You might want to find a donor hydrolic hardlines that go from the master cylinder across the firewall and then down, Then the other hardline from the firewall to the slave cylinder.


You can buy Master, Slave cylinder and hydrolic flexline form Autozone/Rock auto.

And lastly the hard part, Finding the pilot driveshaft as the auto and manual are not the same length (Or just have one made if your in a hurry).

Look for the write ups on here somewhere for trying to use ether the auto or manual ECU, Lots of wiring fun.



Final note, Since your 1990 speedometer is cable driven, Look for donors years 86-91 if you want a working speedometer, 92 and later have electrical speedometers.
