transmission question

transmission question
ummm i finished putting in me clutch couple days ago went out to put the transmission back on the motor an i cant seem to get it lined up an pushed in there though it looks perfect it just dont move lol my dad came out an he has about 35 years of experience under his belt an we both couldnt get it in there we have all the neccasary tools to do it but im not sure if theres somethin that might be catching on it which would cause it not to slide in need some insight plz

Can we assume that you used a clutch alignment tool when you put in the new clutch?
If yes, one thing you may want to look at is the crossover pipe. It sits just above the top of the bell housing. On my 3VZE, it was low enough that the bottom seam of its heat shield caused me difficulty in separating the bell housing. It is possible that for you it could be interfering in the other direction as well. Two to three inches is about the right distance for this issue. I folded up the seam to get it out of the way. Easy to do as it is just sheet metal.
