Transmission interchange

Transmission interchange
I'm working with a 91 4X4 4 cylinder 5 speed. needs a transmission. It's a W trans
I have a couple 5 speeds from 90 - 95 4 runners that were 6 cylinder - manuals.
Can I run the 6 cyl trans in the 4 cyl truck, swap bell housings and transfer cases?
1. are they a direct bolt in?
2. are the gear ratios different, if so by how much.
Thanks in advance.

1. Nope, obviously.
2. Yep, see HERE for gearing ratios of W and R(6 cyl) transmissions.
Yer welcome!

Thank you!, more trouble than it's worth for this customer, the correct used and rebuilt trannys are plentyful enough, fabbin isn't nessicary.
I really appreciate it!, I can't remember what i used to do before the internet/forums - oh ya, work a lot harder.

Oh...and I forgot about the driveshaft incapatibility too. 4 cyl shafts no bolt to 6 cyl transfer cases most of the time(different bolt hole patterns). Not to mention the shaft lengths not being equal. An extra big headache enlargement (or hole in pocket) for those who dare try.
