Tranny won't shift to 3rd
Hey all! I'm back...
Well up until now all has been quiet with my 4runner....
But now it won't shift into 3rd gear.
Its a 94 4runner with an automatic transmission.
Things that I have done to it in the past:
Changed transmission filter and had a total transmission flush.
So any Ideas on what could be going on.
By the way I am approaching 200k Miles.
Thanks, Hope you guys can help me out once again!

Check your kickdown adjustment.
did you put lucas transmission fix into the tranny when you flushed it?
I have the same engine combo as you and when i first got the truck it wouldn't shift up any more either. after doing these two things it shifts much better.

tave laying ohe tranny runs off solenoids. look up an fsm on here, find which wires trip the solenoids on your ecu and put 12volts to them and listen for a click. its easiest to drop the pan and have somebody else listen for you. there located on the left side of the tranny if they all click then your prolly wanna buy one of my a340h trannys that i have scattered about my garage. or better yet manual swap...

Can I drain some fluid and add the Lucas?

the kickdown adjustment is a cable running from your throttle area down to your tranny. if you disconnect it and pull on it you will feel a click at a certain point. try just disconnecting it and driving once and see if that helps if it does. their are two nuts on either side of a bracket near the throttle. adjusting those will change when the kickdown engages.

I'm not sure if I would have it totally flushed with 200K. I've heard bad things flushing high mileage transmissions. Drain and fill a couple times sounds good. I got a 82K mile trans for sale if you end up needing one.
