tranny problem...

I have an '86 4-wheel drive 5-speed yota, I went out this morning and warmed the truck up and drove to my friends house to take her to work, it drove fine till I got there, when I backed up to turn around I put it in 1st gear and eased out on the clutch pedal and the shifter popped out of gear. I put it back in gear and held it and drove on no other problems. Got her to work and it did it again, same thing. When I got home I parked the truck and figured I'd try 1st again, it popped out again but wouldn't go back into gear it just grinded and wouldn't go in gear, so I put it in second and it worked fine. Could it be something simple like changing the fluid in the hydrolic clutch or is my tranny about to drop? Thanx in advance for any help!

it's not 'that' hard, but everything in a transmission moves.
if you're going to be delving into it to replace synchonizers, you might as well rebuild the entire thing. If you don't have the tools in your box already, get someone else to do it.
