You could try craigslist or a junkyard. I've noticed a lot more people posting parts on craigslist here, prolly cuz of the economy. If I was working I'd be stocking up on parts, too bad unemployments not 100 bucks more.

I go check pullapart here when I need something, if its not there, there's always ebay.

beware of what you buy on craigslist, know what to look for. My tranny (w56-B) went out and I bought one from a guy on Craigslist who said it ran and worked great, same make and model EFI truck and everything. It turned out to be an incompatible unit from a carb'd truck (G-52 or 54) with a 5-tooth section missing from 5th gear and a cracked, irreplaceable main shaft bearing retention plate. $350 wasted. Just beware of what you buy on CL.

With the auto's, it is best to get the donor trans from the exact same year/engine combo. There are differences from model year to model year on the auto trans.

There are a bunch of good, used transmissions in the boneyards right now, due to the Cash for Clunkers program. It is a good time to search around at your local boneyard.

With the auto trans, the transfer case is integrated into the transmission. You will most likely need to buy them together.

Good luck.

ok well thanks for all the help. someone said to try a 5 speed, but i was told that if i converted to a 5 speed i would have to move the transfer case and get a longer drive shaft. but i will look on craigslist and junk yards. right now its pretty much all stock, minus a hp head. but wat are some effective upgrades that wont potentially blow my motor. im looking for more power i like to go mudding and rock climb. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

well going from auto to manual, your gonna need a tranny and driveshaft, i suggest trying to get the tranny t case and shaft all for a decent price then sell yours and make some money back, sell it on craigslist and not to the pullapart, they pay horribley, well around here atleast.

its actually not really too many mods,
just alittle work, think about it, either way your taking off the driveshaft tcase and tranny. my personal opinion would be a 5er but then again your truck, your decesion.
