Trail gear high pinion differential wont fit in the axle housing.
So i'm trying to fit my new diffs in and the high pinion up front is too wide to fit into the axle. The two round rings with holes in them are sticking out too far and make the diff too wide. They are the parts that have the v shaped screw down set clip with a bolt in it. Why the hell would they do it this way? They are closed right now of course when I need them.
What should I do? Wait for them or take these set clips out and move those threaded rings in further. The diff that came out has rings in much further. Same with my rear diff. Rings are set in much further.
FML!

Don't loosen or move them!!!
They are the carrier bearing adjusting nuts and they are where they must be in order for the gear setting to be correct.
How far too wide are they?? You may have to grind your diff housing a little to get clearance.
Only other way I can think of would be to have a machine shop face the adjusting rings to make them thinner, but this would require that the backlash and carrier bearing preload be reset afterward.
If your stuff is brand new, call Trail Gear for sure. I bet they tell you to grind the diff housing.
