torque converter wont stay locked
Hi I got a 1992 Toyota 4x4 v6 automatic pickup truck. I live in British Columbia surrounded by mountains.
when the torque converter locked up in 3rd gear around 55kmh it seems to work good and stay locked even if I push on the pedal some and it takes off with low rpm.
at just over 60 on a flat surface if I let off the pedal and then just rest my foot on it the torque converter will lock but if I give it any pedel it unlocks and if theres any incline it unlocks and im burning tons of gas.
I can stay locked in 3rd with overdrive off but as soon as I put it in overdrive and finally get the torque converter to lock any hill it just unlocks.
any ideas? this normal? could it be a TPS?

So is there anyway I can adjust this truck so that transmission stays locked in overdrive going up hills?
I can do 110km in overdrive and have the torque converter stay locked because the rpm's are up but if I am going around mountains and lakes were the speed limit is 80 I pretty much have to be in 3rd gear with the torque converter locked to go up hills without having the torque converter slipping and the motor reving high.
Does anybody else experience this with 3vze and the auto trans?
My moms 2002 jeep grand Cherokee can practically go up a vertical hill doing 75 in overdrive with the torque converter locked no problem never disengages If you know how to drive an auto properly
