There are two of them on the back of the engine on the top. How the heck do you get these suckers out? I even bought a ratcheting wrench and it still didn't help.

I'm thinking about taking off the engine mounts and moving it forward and then taking them off...suggestions?

Drop the rear crossmember a few inches using a jack. They can be reached easily then using about 3' of extensions.

you can do it with a few extentions and at the last extension use a flexable socket adaptor, cheaper than a new wrench

If you go the extension route... add "one friend to help put the socket back on the bolt when it pops off".
And I don't know about the cost thing- that ratchet cost me about 15 bucks at a home depot a while back. By the time you buy a few extensions and either a u-joint or wobble socket it's about the same. Plus I find myself using that ratchet for other things like when something's in the way and can't get a straight pull on a regular ratchet.

I can do it with a 12" extension, a 6" extension, and a U-joint. And a regular ratchet.

call me special but i did it twice with a gear wrench. i had the tire off, and facing to the front of the truck i slid sideways between the wheel hub and fenderwell and stuck my arm out to reach lol..... worked pretty good

A transmission shop would drop the trans crossmember enough to allow a 24" extension and a 17mm swivel socket, and hit it with an impact wrench.

You can do the same with an 18-24" extension and a big ratchet, plus a universal adapter and socket.

I've always used a wrench. Never had a problem with them.
