Just pulled it off, can't even tell it's gone..There might be a little bit more body roll in turns which is expected, but it's barely noticeable..Did a 40 - 0 slam on brakes, truck went straight and completely predictable.

Definately has more flex, stock suspension, no front sway, cranked tbars and 3" blocks, it was damn near stuffing the front tire when I flexed it out on a ramp behind a grocery store, lol..I'm off tomorrow, going to hit an actual trail finally.

Don't take the rear SB off, it effectively causes the front to flex.

Yeah i just took mine off about a week ago and i cant even tell its gone. If somebody would have stolen it i wouldnt have even known. It made a big difference in flex as well. I should have taken that thing off a long time ago.

just took mine off too (solid axle) and it actually has a better ride and better flex.

cheapest, quickest, easiest way to get a bit more flex out of IFS by far

1st gen's with leaf springs don't have them.

Oh, and for those w/o SB's, trim the bump stops or purchase the low profiles and you'll get even tad more travel.

First off take out the blocks. Its not a chevy.

Sway bar doesn't help in a straight line on the road. They only help when you are turning or off camber. If you make a sudden turn at highway speeds in a lifted 4runner you will roll over. Even a fairly small turn think avoiding something falling off the truck in front of you. I've seen it happen several times. If I remember right it just happened to some one on here.
That being said I don't run one in town or on the trail. I do put it back on if I'm going to be on the highway. AFter all its only 6 bolts and its to important not to have.

Ditched that paper weight last year when I did my bj spacers. The ride is has improved, especially when one tire has rough terrain and the is on smooth terrain.
Flexes nicer too A little more body roll, but I like it

Does the rear of the 1st gen runners even have a rear sway bar?

Weird, I always thought they did have a rear swaybar, but I've never owned a 1st gen.

I just disconnect my swaybar when I'm on a wheelin' trip. The body roll on the freeway scared the **** out of me. I had one close call while driving through a mountain pass where the highway curved and my 4runner felt like it was about to flop on it's side. I could have always gone slower, but I was in a convoy of trucks for a wheelin trip. I don't know about your setups, but my first gen 4runner has a really 3" leaf spring lift in the rear and bj spacers with stock 4 cylinder t-bars in the front (really soft suspension setup). Maybe with stiffer leafs and some thicker t-bars I could remove the sway bar.

Another thing to keep in mind is what if someone in front of you on the highway slams on their brakes? Lifted trucks aren't known to stop on a dime. If you just slam on the brakes you'll probably hit them and be at fault, but if you swerve without the sway bar you'll probably flip onto your side. Just my $.02
