320k on engine. Leaking oil from a few spots. Tired engine...found a 3vze with 130k for 400$ but i have to remove myself.
I was planning on pulling the original motor and doing the head gaskets, water pump, oil seals, etc...not a full rebuild but enough so It stops leaking So i can go through some watering holes...should i just swap Motors and be done with it? The current motor always starts and has never left me stranded but is getting tired, esp feel It pulling the boat around.

Is doing a full rebuild out of the question? And what condition is the other motor in? When was last timing belt job, HG replacement done? I'd probably lean towards swapping, but I'd do some preventative maintanence on it while it's out of the truck and easier to work on.

That's what i was thinking as well.
Its a very clean engine With unknown maintenance.
a full rebuild is more then double the price of the motor...if i could afford it id prob go that route but my budget is rather tight.

Right on. Swapping is probably better then. Might as well get some new motor mounts and other small odd/ends while your in there. $400 could be a good deal as long as you don't have to spend another $400 on little stuff it needs. Either way that would end up being the quicker option I think.

Motors mounts are on the list.big time.
Ill get my hands on a compression tester to see where the heads and rings are at.

I would expect to spend another 400 on it before you drop it in. Do the headgaskets, timing belt, water pump, knock sensor wiring, valve cover gaskets, while the motors already out.
Or just 3.4 swap it.

I was thinking of doing all that to my old motor. Its not burning oil its leaking out the valve covers, drivers side head and the oil pan is leaking.... whomever owned this truck before me took good care Of it.
If my compression tests show good would it be wiser to just fixup the motor or do the swap? Either way i gotta do that stuff...
then i can maybe start saving for a full rebuild. Or slap the 130km motor in and start saving on the original motor to be rebuilt....i still have to remove the 130k motor myself. @400$.
