"We've secretly removed this user's engine block and replaced it with and Engine Builder's Choice engine block... let's see if they notice...."

were it me, I'd remove all the other bolts and start with that one... and see how things go.

it's possible but I would recommend taking them off. Your definitely going to have to remove the exaust.

I'd remove the intake and exhaust (sorry. )
You'll need to clean the block and head mating surfaces to make sure the gasket can seat properly.

I always remove my heads with the intake attached but the exhast has to come off. I am carb though EFI may be harder. But really a HG job is cake i can R&R mine in a couple hours, maybe a good time to cleanup those valves, new oil seals, and lap those seats. maybe a RV cam & RV springs is in order as well? Engnbldr a good source on parts I can call him tommorrow morning and he will have parts at my door step the day after tommorrow AMAZING!

black carbon build up is a sign of running rich, I have always had some black.

Is it excessive build up?

Engnbldr said that the 260/430 profile was the best for my 20r/22r hybrid build but the power band really doest shine until I get some really crazy high R's but when it does kick in i clean lugs on my 36" swampers
