Timing chain kit
Hey guys im searching rockauto for a timing kit. My 22r is at 225k and has a slight rattling at certain rpms coming from the top end. Im going to do the chain, head gasket, cam, and rockers. My question is has anyone used the ITM or DNJ timing chain kit and how do you like it? Thanks

Upon further inspection the noise is definitely not coming from the timing chain. Its coming the far side of the head, near the cab, its a rattlng/tapping noise that only occurs between certain rpms I would say between 2k-3500 rpms. I don't believe it to be a valve issue im not smoking or using any fluids. Could it just be worn rockers and cam? It almost sounds like the rocker arm is tapping the valve cover but Ive messed with with VC tightness to no avail. I know if I replace the rockers and cam I will have to do a HG (so fun). What do you think?

It's probly a worn rocker shaft. That's the shaft the rocker arm rides on. These are known to wear especially if you have weak oil pressure. Take off the valve cover and slide the rocker arm to the side and see how worn the shafts are.

If you're having backfire at deceleration there is a little deal (can't remember what's it called) that's supposed to not fully let the accelerator close as soon as you let off to keep from backfiring. It'll allow it to slowly close. There are specs on how to set it. I'll look for it and get back with you. That may be your problem.

Now have* and alright thanks i believe it may be the accelerator pump? Idk. Im not sure if it's correlated to adjusting my valves because thats when it started doing it
