Time to upgrade, (5.29's and lockers) need to know who to buy from.

The title says it all. I'm going to 5.29's and dual lockers within the next month, already have the money set aside. I looked at Wabfab (cause I love that guy!!!) and could only find the rear so I need to find a place that sells the IFS in 5.29 and Detroit. Need some place reputable that won't sell me junk. Advice?

Just to throw this out there I'd also consider going 5.29's and Aussies (actually would prefer this but can't find them) but I don't have the time or space to install the lockers myself so I'd need to buy complete thirds (remember that there is an IFS involved) so if anyone can point me to a good distributor then I'd be grateful.

I think you're gonna be hard pressed to find any "built" 7.5" diffs for sale...unless its on Craigs List or a local forum in your area....

Don't you have 4.88's?? Not sure why you need 5.29s.....

I'm still running 4.56's and with the amount of stuff I haul when camping I'm thinking a step up to 5.29's would be better than 4.88's.

How about a factory rear electric locker 3rd member regeared, and a auto locker in front since it's not used much and lock outs will keep it from engaging while on the asphalt, Is these ideas good or bad?

Good ideas but not something I can do right now. I'll explain why.

An e-locker would be great but it'd involve....
1) Getting the assembly (rather expensive).
2) pulling my rear axle out to mod it for the e-locker install (don't have the time or area to do the work).
3) Getting the e-locker regeared (if I had a place here that would regear an e-locker then I'd have them regear my existing third members).

An auto locker up front is a great idea, in fact I happen to have one in my rig right now.

Just to let you know I have lockers front and rear (Lock-rite and Aussie respectively) and love them. Just need to change the gear ratios to match the new skins and load.

Thank you for the advice and ideas!

Thanks! Called on it a few minutes ago and probably missed it. Will find out tonight though. For that price I can drop in an Aussie and still be a little ahead.

Well if you go to 5.29, I would take your 4.56 off your hands.

It's not an Aussie, but Marlin has complete IFS 3rds with their Spartan locker for $750, as well as just about any combination you could want for the rear 8". I ordered a complete high pinion from them with a grizzly locker and was impressed with the entire experience.

Thank you for the reply! I'm looking into the Grizzly also just in case I can't swing the Detroits.

East Coast Gear Supply. (http://www.eastcoastgearsupply.com)
They do all kinds/flavors of gearing, will sell you a complete front and rear 3r. Even if it's not on the website, just call. Chase is a really great guy and known all over the east coast for his workmanship on gears.

Yes because that's an easy job I can do in the parking lot over the weekend.... If I had the ability I'd drop in the Lexus V8 and be done with it.

IFS stuff, gears and lockers, is just downright more expensive and a pita. I don't deal with them much, but can get just about anything.

Let me know on the rear stuff and use your discount.
I got 4 diffs set aside for myself I gotta regear and add lockers to as well.

I used WabFab when ordering my rear gears and locker, and was very satisfied with everything. Brian is also very helpful in answering questions also. I would recommend using the "wabbit" :wabbit2:
