My truck is an 86 daily driver no climbing or crawling (live in south Mississippi so thats out) a little mud durning hunting season getting in and out the property I hunt.I need to rebuild the front end and my money is tight(just rebuilt motor).So are these really as bad as I have read?Would they be ok for a daily driver? Some folks on here say they put them on and they didnt last but just a small amount of time and they were worn out.I'm just trying to find some hard info. Right now I'm running 31s may in the future go to 33s but that will be a year or more. Thanks for the info

I put some tr ends from Auto Zone, I think it was, on an old Bronco about 10 yrs ago. The only off roading I do is hunting or driving through my pasture. I put about 15000 miles on it and then sold it to a fella that took out a fence 2 wks after he bought it from me. The passenger side tr end had come apart...

Tie rods and ball joints are one area where you should by quality parts.

Partsgeek.com has Sankei 555 (which is an OEM supplier) tie rod ends for around $40.00 At that price, why skimp...?

Not, but seriously, I'm with Snobdds on this one. Tie rods & balljoints are not something you want to skimp on.

You have to do your research, alot of these parts these stores sell are rebadged OEM supplier units.

IIRC the Sankie 555 brand is one of those brands that Advanced Auto uses.

Altrom is another example like our rockers in the 22r's. Napa's brand are those I believe.

here's my chime in : I bought MOOG TIE RODS from kragen and they are also greasable so far thay have been good and you can regrease them .

Nice to see someone local. If the Autozone ones come with a warranty just check them every couple of months and don't worry about them. Most of the replacements I have seen have zerk fittings so they will hold up decently.

Did mine outside during in the winter. Couldn't get them off even after drenching in pb blaster. Snow storm started and finally used a combo pickle fork sledge hammer method to get them off.

Anyway by the time I was done I was out of time and needed to get to work the next day so ran to autozone and just got what they had (not greaseable) They still seem good after 2 and a half years but after this thread I want to redo them.

Went on parts geek to order my tie rod ends. I'm a little confused because Sankie 555 tie rod ends have 2 different part numbers but say they can be used for both sides. Can anyone clear this up for me?
