Third fit
A friend has a 96 taco. 2.7 5spd. The rear diff. pinion is shot bad. He's having it towed here.
I have rear thirds from an 88. 1 from a v6 5spd. other from a 4cyl. 5spd.
I'm not sure of his gear ratio yet but if he has 4:10 which I have will the third from one of the 88's fit the 96 rear diff.
I've done a search but not finding any info on this.
Thank you for all help

If he has an elocker, you could use the gears out of your older thirds. I guess you could install the thirdmember, but it would take some axle housing modification.
If he DOESN'T have an elocker, nothing but a Tacoma/T100 third will work.
