Are these door panels an option or something?
I'm going crazy trying to find window switches for my doors. Nobody seems to have the same door panels. The truck is a 1986 Toyota Pickup, Xtra cab, turbo, auto, SR5.
Here's the only picture I have of the door panels. They're not flat like I see in most pictures, they come out into the cab more. The window switches are mounted into the arm rest just below the door handle
does anybody have any information on them? Are they an optional panel? Are they part of some strange trim level I don't know about? Is it a Canadian thing? I'm at a loss.

It is not a canadian thing.
However, its a VERY VERY VERY rare option. Those are only found in select SR5 fully loaded trucks. My 89 4Runner has those panels. They are more common in the 4Runners, but some of the trucks had them.
The reason yours has it in 1986 is because you have a turbo. Again, very rare.

Gah please don't tell him to retrofit! I hate when people rewire and ruin classic toyota designs like that. Those things are so very rare, and fetch a pretty penny when unmolested.
Besides, with as NICE and CLEAN as the truck is, do you really want to ruin it with some cheapo fix? If you do, please, sell me to truck and I'll give you an 86 4Runner you can trash to your hearts desire.

it is a rare vehicle, and it would be stupid (imo) to replace it with anything other that OEM parts; if it comes down to having to replace it. I would try to repair it and get the original working again first. If that fails, maybe try eBay. I highly doubt you'll find any scrap yards with it...

x2 - I've done this to quite a few switches from many different manufacturers. Just be careful taking it apart and be careful nothing drops out, if something does, it's usually a simple design to figure out.
