Tacoma rear axle on 1st 4runner?

I picked up a whole e-locker Tacoma axle complete with brakes end to end. Plan was to take the e-locker and retrofit into my 3rd.

Since I have the whole rear end and in good condition, can I use any of these parts on my 1st gen? IE: Brakes, axle shafts, or even the whole thing(about 2.75" wider)

you could use it in the rear for added width, but youll want the added width in the front as well, if not more even.

Wouldnt it be easier to simply install the elocker in your current axle?

I would like to use the whole thing but consenus say swapping just the 3rd is easier. I am wondering if I could use the brakes or maybe the axle shafts are better on a Tacoma? Just seeing what I could use before I try to get a few bucks for the rear-end minus 3rd.

The brakes are the same. The axle shafts are the same strength, but longer so they wouldn't fit in your housing anyways.

The ebrake is on the opposite side.

The frame is a different width, so you will have to move the spring perches.

Seriously - it's A LOT of work, with welding REQUIRED to swap in that housing.
