What about fuel delivery..diggging up an old thread

I did a conversion very similar to this in my 87 325is BMW. I took a VAFM from a 3.0l 535is and put it in my 2.5l 325. granted I had to swap the internal electronics from the 325 VAFM to the 535 VAFM. After the swap I was running lean. I had to upgrade to larger FI's and raise my FP .

I know this is not a 6cyl BMW , but By doing this on the 22re would there be any fuel issues?

Could the injectors be near their limits as far a duty cycle to make up for the extra air? Would there be any need to adjust fuel pressure? Or is it really plug and play as it seems.

thanks
Geoff

You can open up the AFM and adjust it to run a little richer.

the stock injectors are capable of flowing enough fuel for nearly any subtle mod you can throw at a 22re, up to about 4-6 psi of boost from a turbo or supercharger.

The missing parts I need to convert the stock VAFM to a 3" GM MAF will be arriving tomorrow. The translator is programmed and just needs the remaining pieces installed. I should be able to try it out on wednesday.

I'll post updates. I just wish I had access to a chassis dynamometer. It would be nice to have some numbers rather than just seat of the pants. I scavenged the connectors from spare VAFM so it's plug and play.

But.... I may not be able to get to this tomorrow. The UPS guy didn't show up as scheduled and is basically AWOL with my parts. The tracking thing says the parts are here in town on the truck and being delivered, but that was 13 hours ago. He's 5 hours past his usual delivery time so I don't know if I'm getting parts or not at this point.
