Sudden loss, and return of power?
While coming home last night, my pickup had several loss and the regain of power moments. I'd be driving along and it was like some one just shut the fuel off, and then turned it back on. This happened and cruise and under acceleration. It would all so studder under acceleration when it happened, like it was out of fuel, but then regain power a second latter. I know it has fuel, I had just filled it 30 miles ago.
No check engine light, I have not pulled the codes yet, but it was clear a week ago after a large amount of work done.
It's a 89 with a 22RE.

Sudden loss of power suggests something with the wiring is intermittent, possibly grounds to the block, injector wiring, ignition wire from coil to the distributor grounding out, loose connection to the igniter, VAFM wiring, COR, loss of power to the ECU....
Since you don't know if you have any codes stored yet, I'd start looking at the main power wiring around the under-hood fuse block, loose battery terminals, battery bouncing around and shorting against the hood, engine grounds, etc.
