For which engine? The 22re or the 3vz? The 3vz manual tranny is an Rf150

Your posting is kind of confusing, wouldn't you be asking how much hp is lost through this drivetrain setup?

Unless you worded it wrong, and meant to say "what is the hp and torque of a 92 3.0 or 22re w/ a mtm" then the answer is:

3.0L 3VZ-E
At introduction output was specified as 145 hp (108 kW) then later bumped to 150 hp (112 kW) at 4800 rpm with 180 ft·lbf (244 N·m) of torque at 3400 rpm

2.4L 22R-E
output was was specified as 112 hp (84 kW) at 4600 rpm and 142 ft·lbf (192 N·m) at 3400 rpm.

Transmission Possibilities:

4WD North American Products:
R150F (3VZ-E, F Suffix=4WD, there is a R150 2WD in later models)
G58 (22R-E)
W56 (22R-E)

2WD North American Products:
W46
W55

He's asking how much horse power torque can a 5spd transmission handle from an engine. (possibly for an engine swap?) To help get you a better answer...do you have a 4 cyl transmission or a 6cyl transmission.

The transmission doesn't have a HP rating like perhaps some Mopar stuff might, but Toy trannies are pretty stout. Its going to depend to a large extent how you're going to be using the truck- rock crawling, mud bogging, highway cruiser, drag racing (ha ha)...

I've heard that putting a 350 small block together with a Toyota transmission in general is not the best way to go....but I could be wrong!

Wait, you don't drag race your toyota???

I believe the 22R-E is a 2.4, the 2.7 is the 3RZ

good call...I mixed up that detail. I have a 2.7L 3RZ-FE and a 2.4L 22R-E, but that is the correct hp/torque for the 22R-E

Its really late I need to go to bed now lol good luck on that!

The r-series tranny in the V6 trucks is essentially the same as what was in the twin-turbo supras IIRC. In other words, it will likely hold whatever motor you put in front of it.

If you have a 4 cylinder tranny, the issue is likely to be the output/tcase. The 21 spline tcase input is usually the weak point. The turbos and V6 trucks had a significantly stronger 23 spline setup.

I think PBB is better equipped to handle your question.

G-series? eh 200 horse perhaps, W series is stronger.
W-series? seen them hold up under 300 longterm.
R-series? Been driving a r-151 behind a supercharged 5vzfe for several years now.

What allnmstkn313 said, Except I think the G58 will probably hold up to a little more than 200HP. But it is one of the weaker manuals Toyota put in trucks between 85-95. The w56 is a direct swap out for the G58 as long as the t-case is included.
