Strange clutch problem PLEASE HELP!!!

I was driving my 89 pickup 4cyl down a local road today. i started to pick up speed going down the hill, so i pressed my clutch pedal, and i heard a noise that sounded like metal snapping and then my clutch wouldnt disengage. I couldnt hear where it came from. I realized something was wrong and pulled over. I inspected the visible parts of the clutch system (pedal, master and slave cylinder, and hydraulic lines, etc.) I can start it just fine in any gear with the clutch pressed, but i cant change gears while driving without speed shifting(rev matching). When driving when i press the gas about halfway the clutch disengages and then reengages when i let off the gas. Im completely clueless here Any Ideas? This is my daily driver to get to school, and i need to get it fixed ASAP. Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the throw our bearing broke apart. Get a friend or another foot to press down on the clutch and see if the slave cylinder is working correctly. If it is moving in and out smoothly then the problem is in the clutch itself. "Time fora clutch kit"

^^ Didn't think about the clutch pedal bracket. That happened on my 81. Just took some sheet metal screws and zipped it back on. Lil spot welds break sometimes.

i thought it mighta been the throw out bearing, but i decided to bleed the slave cylinder and it went into gear better, but the clutch barely caught. I then adjusted the clutch to no avail. I think i burned the clutch out driving back because it wouldnt fully engage. i guess it is time for a clutch kit. Any suggestions on which one?

My friend's truck had something similar happen on his truck. After trying to figure it out multiple times we finally found out it was the clutch fork. I would climb underneath while he pushed in the clutch. As far as I could tell it was working fine, the fork was moving fine. After looking at it even closer, the fork was cracked a little in the middle. So yeah the slave cyl side was moving plenty, but the fork side barely moved because it was just flexing in the middle because of the crack.

Well, i got the transmission out and the clutch was nothing but metal, not a bit of carbon on it. Replaced that and was having the hardest time putting the tranny back in when i came up with the most redneck idea ever. i put a 3000lb winch in the cab and ran the cable through the floor and wrapped it around the tranny. Raised it up and it lined up perfectly and slid right in. I would suggest that to anybody, wouldnt doubt if that cut installation time in half. ill let u know when i get it back together.
