*Stock clock question*
Ok guys, quick little question.
So when my mechanic got my old wrecked truck to yank the motor i asked if he could grab the clock, cause i know some people would kill for a working one.
Now the clock itself came out of an 86, My new truck is a 91, did wiring and such change in 89 with the new body style ? Also, If the truck, (dlx, base model ) ,doesn't have a clock in the first place, would i have the plug hidden somewhere, or would i have to splice (what i would like to avoid)...
Heres a couple pics, I tried taking apart the dash but it's dark and couldn't figure it out.
For those who have a clock, the second picture is where it goes...correct?
AND
Oh and now i feel like ranting
So after not having my truck for like..ever.
Finally getting it out here from texas to cali..
The Mech. telling us its reday.
Driving 100 miles to get it then its over heating.
Having to wait a week so the radiator and t-stat could get to him...
then driving another 100 miles back up north to pick it up today get home, after it sits realize im leaking oil...I think i need a new gasket on my oil pan.
F%$#%(#&@Y^$((#%&($#&@%#$%$(&%(@)FKDKHLAEFWIH:bang :
SHOOT ME NOW !!!
But seriously, if you know bout that clock, let me know.
Im sure DC might

My old '91 DLX model truck didn't come with the clock, but the wiring plug was there behind that plate. But I don't know if the plugs are the same......

Why thank you...maybe someone else will know..
Hmm, Now i need to figure out how to get that piece of the dash assembly off.
Does that plate just pop out ?
Iirc it doesn't and needs a dremel type tool to get it done.
Anyone have experience with those little plates.. i know there are more around the dash panel for what would be other options.
Thanks in andvance also

ohh, great, ill check it first thing in the morning..
Just didnt wanna break anything ya know.
Thanks buddy.
still, one problem exists, the clock it self seems a bit larger then the opening, which seems like it was the same on the old truck.
so i still gotta take the whole dash apart and get it in there..if the plug fits.
Like i said thanks A4.

Your welcome. And you don't have to take down the whole dash for that part. That whole facial plate just pops off. Pull the side lever knobs off ( for the fan controls, there's 4 of them), then pull the cup holder out, and gently pull on the top of that facial piece, and it'll pop off. IIRC, there is a screw mounting hole to screw it to.Whole job should take about less than 5 min or so.
*The facial plate is also known as (I think) the heater controls plate or something like that...

even though i have a 2000 i have that same little blank space. my buddy's 02 actually has a clock in that spot. when i had that portion of the dash off one day i did find the plug for it. i cant imagine a clock like that costs toyota very much...why couldnt they have spent the extra $1 and just put i in and save that much plastic from the plate?

Although it does not fit, it does plug in.

Only problem is the 91 clock is a bit bigger.
Just the same night I started this thread a guy on here posted saying he has a 90 that he's parting out.
5 bucks for the clock
shipping too.
But hey, now i gotta find a plaze for my snazzy little bass remote, rather then the temp spot i had in the little clock hole.
Ill let this thread die now
