stiffer torsion=less flex??

hey toyota ifs gurus,

my truck has a 4" procomp, BJ spacers, and downey torsions up front, fully relaxed. its a fourcylinder with no bumper. i wanted to get a better ride out of the front and maybe more flex. i feel like the stiffness of my front is due to the downey torsions and that the light front doesnt have enough weight to move the torsions. i also feel that if i put stock torsions back into the front my ride would be better and i would gain more flex. please i need your opinions!!!

You will, for sure.

Make sure they're from/for a 4cyl PU too. Because those will have the lowest spring rate/most flexability.

The stiffness is definitely due to the torsion bars. but theres pros and cons to that, and you have a couple ways of handling it.

1) you can buy a front bumper, throw a winch on it, some cool lights and maybe mount your hi jack lift on it and that would definitely weigh it down enough to make the ride back to normal.

or.

2) you can pull the downey torsion bars out, put stock ones back in, relax them back to stock height and just keep no bumper or put a factory back on there. whichever you feel like doing.

When I changed from Downey's to stockers the ride got WAY better and the flex improved. However, I did sacrifice my ability to jump sand dunes.

I agree with pretty much everybody here, but MaK92-4RnR brings up a good point, if you plan on putting an off-road bumper on that and/or a winch your gonna wish you kept the downy torsions on there. Afterall that's what they were designed for anyway.

But this isn't my experience just my opinion and what I would do.
