Stereo Deck Install, and Front bumper reinforcement question.
Hello All,
Two Questions,
When you guys/gals are installing a aftermarket front bumper there are a couple company's who offer frame plating beef up kits, Well I purchased one and am having second thoughts on installing it, I usually recover from the back bumper and I do not plan to install a winch. Will doing all the welding on the front of the frame even be worth it?
Also I pickup up a new radio bezzel and created a switch panel because the factory ash tray mounts were cut out by the previous owner. My questions is whats the best most solid way to mount a deck in these trucks? I noticed on the old bezzel they just trimmed the plastic. Is this what most people are doing?

For mounting the stereo, Toyotas were mounted to 2 brackets that mounted to the side of the radio (look on the side of the radio, you will see a (T) and a (N), These are the screw holes for Toyotas and Nissen mounting brackets). Then you mount it to the dash. No need to cut the plastic like most kids do because they do not know better.

Yes it is, If you take off the trim ring, you will see that it fits just right in (from the back of the plastic). It should be almost flush with the plastic.
There should be 3 to 4 small (like 4 or 5mm small) screw holes on each side. This has been made a "standard" set up on all aftermarket head units. There are 3 sizes that have been made over the years. DIN, Double DIN and DIN and a half. The DIN.5 was for GM and no longer made. We can fit DIN and a pocket or Double DIN. DIN is German for something that I forget, try google.
Post pictures of the radio, both front and side.

FYI because its interesting
DIN refers to size 2″ x 8″ opening that a radio fits into. DIN stands for Duetch Industri Normen which the Germans starting using to standardize the radio’s in Audi’s, BMW’s, Mercedes, VW’s way back in the mid 80′s. It has since become the industry standard.
DOUBLE DIN is the same width of 8″ but is 4″ instead of 2″.

That's what you need. Pleas do not buy that one, I think the dealer sells them for $12-$15 each side, new. Ask around or look in yards for one. You still may have it because I saw you have the little box that goes under it. Both mount to that brackets then to the truck. When you get the brackets, you will see that they mount to the (T) on the sides. You need the screws too.
The last picture of the radio is how it will sit in the dash. Maybe a little bit back, but thats it.
If you have any problems, just ask.
Good luck with it all.

Weld the plate on the front cross member. The nuts pull out through the stock piece, just bolting on the brace does nothing.
One day, during a hard front pull, youll be glad you did.
