Steering stop.

Ok, does the steering stop drive anyone else crazy? Every time I drive into my garage I get this metal on metal squeak and everyone looks over to see what I hit. I know there is a factory plastic part that fits on there, but how long can I expect it to last? It was replaced before but wore out. Is there something aftermarket made out of some space age material that will stand up to this? Or do I just buy 2 sets at a time and keep replacing them? How long do yours seem to last?

Thanks.

What I did was replace the stock end piece's and put some anti seize in the curved area where the plastic ball rides when contacting and it has lasted almost a year now after running in wet weather I check the anti seize to make sure there's still enough there the make it slide with out the friction issue that wears them out.

Hey Jason, just put some grease on them. I usually grease them every 6 months or so depending where im driving (wet weather and whatnot). No need to buy the plastic caps that wear down.

Make sure you get both the front two and rear two steering stops. Im sure you know what they look like.

x2 jay. A glob of grease on each of the 4 steering stops eliminated the loud popping/creaking noise mine was making. I suppose you could get new plastic caps then grease the metal part that it will rub on. Should make it silent and last a long while.

Well I guess I'll price some new stops and make sure I use anti-seize or grease to make them last longer. If anyone knows of after market ones made from a more durable material let me know.

Thanks
