Steering idle,.. HELP
94 4runner 3.0.. noticed that when im in neutral and i turn the wheel that my idle begins to drop,.. what could be the problem here? i dont see any vacuum hoses connected to the p/s pump that would cause the idle to drop if there was a leak. however my p/s pump is leaking like crazy.

Although it does not relate to the 3.0 I have had vehicles in the past that had leaking PS pumps and the idle would drop when I turned the wheel. I think that the leaking pump is pulling more on the motor due to the loss of fluid.
Fix the pump and see if that cures the problem.

Resealing your PS pump isn't a difficult job and the kit from Toyota is under $30. See this thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...riteup-183622/
There is a valve on the pump that has two air hoses attached that allow extra air into the plenum when there is demand on the steering system. This prevents the engine from bogging down when the wheel is turned. In the photo I circled the valve and drew a line over the vacuum hoses going up to the plenum. One hose receives air from the air cleaner through the smaller hose attached to a pipe on the front of the plenum. The pipe goes under the plenum and comes out on the passenger side in the mess of hoses. The other hose coming off the valve goes to a pipe on the plenum. This link shows the valve, it's labeled 17630 in the drawing: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_198...EA_1708.5.html Check both the valve and hoses for leaks.

one of ports broke off of that valve as i was taking the 2 hoses off. the hoses weren't attached to anything else, the person i bought the 4runner from just capped off both ends.
