Would there be any interest in a steering column lock? goes around the column, then has a lever you install with a pad lock that covers the ignition tumbler. seems these are known for easily being stolen.

I know I want one, and it seems lok-itt is back in business, I messaged them about making them for the toyotas, but they need to make sure there is demand first.

There are a dozen ways to disable and protect a vehicle that cost nothing.

Ignition armor is just another feel good gimmick.

If they really want your truck, they will get it.

By far the most simple way is a chain around the steering wheel

To either a eye bolt through the floor or to a ear welded to the brake pedal

Granted if they really want your truck they will have checked everything out to defeat what ever security you have.

Then have it in hand.

Guess I like to keep my truck, I have one of these on My Chevy, it covers the vulnerable spot on those, I know the old Toyota's are stolen with a worn key, the tumblers seem to wear, and any old worn key can start a lot of these trucks, I just figured this would protect that area better, anything on the wheel can be cut very easy.

Seems like a well placed and hidden fuel pump or ignition kill switch would be more effective and cheaper. Plus then you wouldn't have a 10lb chunk of steel floating around the cabin.

EDIT: I love that they don't list a single import car in the application tab also that their website doesn't have a single picture of it installed on a vehicle.

if youreally don't want it stolen, you'll integrate something electrical that basically just you know about..... heck, you can get one of those pilot remote fog light relays and wire it into the relay module or like the efi fuse or whatever so it won't run if you don't turn it on. hide a foot switch or hand switch under the carpet, and the classic hidden switch in the dash or ash tray or something. heck, my lowridder takes an hour just to get to the backup battery to the security system/ 1/2 hour to just access the fuses since i tore down the interior to integrate the system and built the truck up around it, plus other measures and secondary radio alarm.... but basically, if you are gonna buy and install this thing you can put the same amount of work and far less money into securing it...... and as another point, you need brains not a crowbar. with this thing or with nothing, you can bypass and steal it with a simple crowbar and maybe a screwdriver. just like an old chevy with a drill or hammer. i even saw where a flathead and a bunch of jerking can unlock these things sometimes. only way to really secure is through a little ingenuity, not some bulky steel box you can pry off. even something like the club only helps the thieves if they have something to cut or replace the steering wheel, because now they have more leverage to pop it.

If I really wanted your truck I would just drag it up onto a flat bed or tow it. Don't even have to open the door.

I know in AZ these are stolen frequently, and a kill switch hidden will still make a thief break your window and mess up your column before they find out. the company guy said he would get me some pics to post so you can see what it does.

the piece in the bottom of this picture is the only thing that comes off and the padlock, the rest stays on the column.

So you have to roll around with that big ugly bracket on the column all time? That's even worse then it bouncing around the cab. If you like it, cool, but I don't see a whole lot of these selling.

Jason approached the company about making a unit for these trucks. I explained that a certain sales volume would have to be expected in order to make it feasible.

Sounds like there is not much interest from this market segment. We have a unit for 1992-1996 Toyota Camrys, and one for these trucks would be constructed similarly.

I am the new owner of the company (as of the end of last year) and these consistently sell strongly. For those that live in an area with high auto theft, it might help keep your vehicle where you left it. If you don't mind calling a cab, a friend, or taking public transportation after your truck is gone, I understand how not saving a few bucks might make you feel better in the short term.

FWIW, thousands of these units are sold every year. So, yes, people do use them. While I agree that nothing can completely stop auto theft, I have yet to hear of anyone defeating one of these. I've been sent pictures of ones with pry marks and saw cuts on them, but no stories of one being forcibly removed.

All the "permanent" models are gloss black. All fully removable models are red.

Given the cost to have ones coated / painted custom colors and what it would add to the unit cost, we do not do custom colors. That should not stop you from shooting them in whatever color you like. We even have a few demo models in chrome.
