starting problems
so i just got a 94 4unner 5speed v6 and the guy told me there was something up with the starter and i had been on here for awhile and thought it would be an easy fix. when i got it if i turned the key i would here one single click. so i replaced the starter contacts today and now when i try to start it i get multiple clicks and my lights flicker along with the clicks. tried jumping it nothing happens checked most battery connections but it was dark out any other ideas of what i should look for? also i can jump start the car and it starts right up

Sounds like the battery post connection, or just a bad battery. Were the jumper cables hooked to the leads on the battery itself, or elsewhere?
Also, your thread might get deleted for the vague title. The mods are currently cracking down on that, to keep the site more user friendly in the 'search' dept.

yes i can pop start it just fine but jump starting it will still just give me the clicks and lights flickering. one thing i did think of but im not sure if this could be it at all is when i replaced the contacts all of the plastic pieces inside broke. the plastic kept the contacts and the posts from actually making contact with the housing. because they broke and i could not get the contacts to fit in correctly i used washes to allow the bolts to fit snugly im just wondering if the washers being in contact with the housing and contact bolts if this would cause this. my thought was that since the starter is grounded through the bolts to the bell housing it may not be able to complete the circuit completely because i did notice the negative terminal was hot at one point last night.
