Starter going bad?
When I try to start my truck when its hasnt been run for a while, the starter just spins. Luckily my driveway is slanted, so I can easily roll start it, and it starts right up. After the truck has been run for a couple minutes, the starter will engage again and start the truck right away. Whats the deal?

check the batt terminals. I had the same issue, and it was that the terminals were severely corroded (didnt look like it till i took em off) and that caused a reduced current causing the starter not to spin fast enough to spin out, and engage the flywheel

If this is on your 3.0, and your valve covers are leaking, it's possible that oil has collected in the bendix of the starter, preventing positive engagement. You may need to remove and clean your starter. And if you're into that, strongly recommend to install new contacts at the same time. ~$15 at the dealer.

when you say "the starter just spins" Do you mean that the engine will just turn over, or the starter will just spin by itself without moving the engine?
If its the first - Something is wrong with your engine/charging system
If its the latter - chipped flywheel.
