started smoking yesterday!
OK not me the 4runner did.
It runs fine has tons of power and doesnt knock BUT woke up yesterday started it up and a plume of smoke came out??????
When it idles and I accelerrate it smokes then it goes away, go down the road nothing and stop and go its pretty clear but let it idle and accelerate it plumes smoke.
Theres no loss of power, its actually running really good. But it looks like jed clampetts truck spewing smoke! Put grandma on the roof with a rocking chair and a banjo!
Any Ideas, My thoughts its possibly a stuck ring, what I did is put 1/2 container of seafoam in crank case with a fresh oil change and added some to gas as well.
Any ideas, ways to check, things to look/listen for or a common issue like this.
V6 has 156k miles automatic.

I have seen stuck oil rings, get unstuck by seafoam in the plug holes overnight, but never in the crankcase. What color smoke ?

Its kind of blue (real light tint) and as far as the head gasket it has no loss of power or any water in oil. Idle is perfect and power is great...
So should I take the plugs out and pour some seafoam down them (a little bit) and let it soak over night?

If the valve seals leak, that will create oil smoke even if the compression is fine. Normally they last more miles than you have on the motor, but if you had your head gaskets changed, the shop that did the heads could have washed grit into them while cleaning the heads.
Does your motor burn a bit of oil?
You can pull your plugs - they'll be shiny black if you're burning much oil.

OK added seafoam to the oil did a oil change first and added a little to the gas!
VERDICT! Stuck ring, carbon burned off, ring seals now and ZERO oil plume out the tail pipe. Dad suggested it, ex aircraft mechanic in AF and several years wrenching on stuff.
He'll never see this but "thanks, dad. Never too old to ask the parents questions!"
