Sr5 tach wire
Ok here it goes.
A little while back I bought an Sr5 cluster from a fellow member here. But he had never hooked it up to check and see if it worked or not. I hooked it up in my truck and everything besides the tach works.
I know some trucks aren't prewired for it but which wire is it that operates the tach. I would hate to run the wire and go through all that trouble if the tach itself was bad.
If it is infact not wired for it. Couldn't I run a wire and pin it in the correct location in the harneSs clip?

Ok so I have my cluster out and I believe I am prewired for it. I have a wire that is pinned in the 6th port (6/12) and if you trace the lil path on the cluster board thing that goes to location T.
Now that I have the cluster out is there anyway to check the cluster to see if it works or if it is no good.

Then again. That wire is a yello with a green stripe. That could be my temp gauge. So back to square 1. I'm looking in my Haynes manual. Which is vague to say the least.
Any1 have a chance to look at a fsm and see what color and what pin its supposed to be in?
I'm on a blackberry and I have no other access to the net.

Ok I've got the tach working now. Looked through the electrical diagram some more and tapped into the black wire. Now I just got to check and make sure this cluster was for a 4cyl and not a 6. What should the idle rpms be at if eveything is correctly tuned and timed?

Check this thread. You will need to adjust the potentiometer to the correct values.

ok the tach was for a 4cyl. Already so that made it easy. For future ref. The all black wire that goes into the male side of the connector that plugs right beside the igniter is the one I tapped into. I then took the wire and ran it to the 7th pin location on the blue plug in that goes into the back of the tach. If you follow the lil road it leads to the letter p with a phillips head screw in it.
I put it all back together and it is working awesome.
If you need anything p.m. Me and ill try to help
