sr5 seat-spring is killing my back

My 87 4runner with the nice sr5 seats has the foam in the back worn flat or something because when I lean back the presses against my lower back which will start to hurt after even a few minutes. I would just go grab another seat out of a junkyard but I have a red interior and the seats are perfect besides the foam being worn. So what would you guys suggest I do? If there are no other options I will just get a different colored seat from the junkyard and put seat covers on.

an upholstery shop might be able to remove and replace the existing cover and repair the seat.

if there in good shape it might be worth it.

i need to do the same thing, my lumbar support came loose.

Have you tried flipping the lever to put away the lumbar? You also could unhook the upholstery, and roll it up the back halfway. You then, could see what is going on. It takes about 5 minutes to pull the seat and push the upholstery up out of the way. As long as you don't remove it completely, it goes back on fairly easy. IIRC, you will have to remove and reinstall hogrings.

Red face

:wabbit2:i guess you judge things different .

If the seat was hurting my back it is not in good shape.

Most all my seats have Gorilla tape on from wear but at least they are comfortable and don`t hurt my back:jessica:

Ok I'll flip the fabric up. And yes I do know about the lumbar adjustment. I have had my 4runner since July and I have always loved the seats and then about 2 weeks ago I have been able to feel the spring pushing against my back. At the least I will put another piece of foam against the spring so I can't feel it as much.

I mean the fabric is in good shape, and I don't think I would be able to find another red sr5 seat too easily. That's why I would like to fix it.
