Specail service campaign vo6

I have a 92 4runner 3vze that falls under the special service campaign vo6. I have a dealership in anchorage that is willing to honor it. She runs fine a little bit of rough idle on real cold mornings 101k miles. My question for everyone is what else should I have the dealership take care of while in there. Timing belt and water pump were my thoughts but would like some input from the forum. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am not sure what is covered by the campaign that you are mentioning, but the Relay Rod or some call it a Drag Link falls under warranty as well.

What's covered are the head gaskets, damaged or not. And/or any damage to the rest of the engine components caused by a damaged head gasket. Up to, and including, replacing or rebuilding the entire engine if necessary. The steering center link/relay rod was a different recall.

Other than what you've mentioned, not too much. Valve job, full engine seal kit(not just head gaskets). Everything else is probably still fine with that many miles.

I believe the answer continues to be yes.

The better question is...how many 3VZ-Es still on the road need it(it isn't really needed unless it's blown, or even a good idea unless it has at least 200k miles on it, IMO) or haven't had it fixed under the recall already? Can't be too many of those left I wouldn't think.

That's true, you would think that just about every 3VZ-E would have had the work done by now, I know mine was done. I just found it interesting that the service call was still active for a 20+ yr old vehicle. :-)

I actually own an 88 3VZ-E that's never had the head gaskets replaced under the recall. The stock HGs lasted 218k miles. And I refuse to let other people touch my vehicles. So I replace them myself. Personally...I don't see why they went so far as to offer to replace any/all of them. When quite a large % of them have/will go 200k-300k+ without failing. But whatever...if that sounds like a "good deal" to you...by all means get it done "for free". I'd never do it. I'm the best mechanic on planet earth bar none. And sometimes I wish I was kidding when I say that....

When I purchased mine I took it to Yodaman to be checked and he discovered that the #6 cylinder was leaking so he redid the head gaskets. I ended up getting a whole new top end out the deal as the seller agreed to pay for. Larry knows his stuff, I won't let anyone else touch my truck.
