So I was a little bored today...

And I decided the bed must die.

So what yall think? Trying to figure out what to do with the dog gone filler hose. Eventually gonna either make a flat bed, or buy a pipe bender and make me a tube bed.

Will look sicker with the flatbed once you get a bender. I could use on myself

Keep on

Ya know I've been playin around with the idea of a wood bottom (save weight). Or I could build a flatbed like I planned on doin to the original swampthing before it blew up.

Something like this:

hows bout a tube bed with diamondplate bottom (kinda pricey) and build a bit of a cage as well. Maybe like the one on downey's site. (It is downey right?)

change the fuel tank out for a cell, access through the bed...5 link the rear.
stainless tube bed / 1/8" aluminum diamond plate like your drawing.

Might be getting an almost complete 3link setup for free from a bud, so I'll worry about that down the line.

Aint wanna spend money on a fuel cell. No one's done any mods far as custom hoses?

I've done some stuff with fuel tanks on toybox type trailers, but nothing terribly custom.
get in touch with a muffler shop and see what they could hook you up with. you might be able to get a flange and stainless pipe and some hose to mount a new filler to your upcoming bed.

Ok I got a problem now. Whenever I'm going 45 or over, I get this horrible grinding metallic bearing-gone-bad type noise when I throw it in neutral. If I have it in gear with the clutch pressed in, it won't make the noise. Making me very nevous. No idea what's wrong.

Definitely not brakes. Something tranny related.

well, i thought the 'flinstone' part would've caught you.

let's look at what's happening:
rear wheels turning = output shaft of trans turned by wheels
clutch released / neutral = input shaft turned by engine rpm via clutch (noise)
clutch engaged / in gear = input shaft turned by rear wheels (no noise)

Wow Clint, when I got bored today, I just mowed the lawn. Oh, and changed the pcv valve and heater control valve.

Flat bed, all the way. But don't use wood, you should use the Trex material from Home Depot. Indestructible, AND you don't have to Thompson's water seal it every year.

Ok, well I've diagnosed it some more. It's seems like its gotten worse.

It makes the metallic grinding / buzzing type sound when in neutral and coasting until it gets below 15mph, when in gear and the clutch pressed in, and when in gear letting off the gas. If I'm accelerating or compression braking it doesn't make the noise.

The loudness of the grinding increases with speed too.

I'm thinking either rear diff, tcase, or tranny. Any thoughts yall?
