Does anyone know where to get a short throw shifter for a 1994 toyota pickup 4x4 the only ones i can find are for 2 wheel drive trucks not 4 wheel drive 5 speeds

Marlin doesn't make a short throw for his trans. 94 would be a forward shift W-series.

URD makes one for the 4 cylinder tacomas. We used one on my little bros truck. I also have one on my 3.4 T100. The shifters didn't change too much so you can use them.


Saying that, I'm really jealous of the marlin...

i think its the actual shifter itself that gets modified and you can change the shifter to different mounting plates no personal experience with a short throw but i had a problem my 2wd-4wd swap and took the w55 (22re 2wd) shifter apart and took the lever and put it in the r151 (3vze 4wd) mount and it shifts fine and went together good so i would say that you could buy the short shifter and put it into your mount unless of course they change the mount location (which im not sure if they do or not) in that case nevermind this whole last post and the best of luck on your search
ps if it works you have to buy the pickup shifter though because my r151 shifter was out of a 4runner completely different shifter hit my center console
however it is less work to buy it if you can find one

I am really curious from those who have a STS. How much of a difference does it really make in our trucks? I have one in my STI but that's because I am constantly trying to make it faster. Our trucks are slugs. Does it really help?

Personally, I don't slam my truck through gears like I used to, but I do enjoy the shorter throw. My brother and I both have URD short throws on our trucks, and our dad has a TRD on his 2010 Tacoma, because he liked driving our trucks so much. In his case I think it helps him, because he has elbow and shoulder problems.

Other than that, I don't see any real advantages lol

The throw is noticeably shorter than the stock shifter, I'm still getting used to it and working out some bugs with my 3.4 swap, so I really haven't tried to run through the gears as fast as I can.

For me, I ordered and installed it to help clear some interference issues I was having with the 1.5" body lift; the rubber shift boot would get sandwiched between the shifter and floorboard in 2nd keeping it from fully engaging.

I found one from Marlin but im not sure if its the right one for my tranny? the one i found was for a G58 i'll have to go home and look at my book unless anyone knows off the top of their head?

I went ahead and bought the new Marlin shifter as soon as i found out about it. Although I haven't had much time to fully test it other than around the block a few times, it makes a huge difference! The build quality is absolutely excellent. Once I get my truck back together again and have more of an opportunity to fully test it I will report back. But until then, I would definitely recommend it.

I went and looked and i have a W56 tranny i think Marlin make a short throw for that tranny

You have to see which tacoma uses the same tranny as your truck, if yours is 4wd, this should work:
