Shocks preference
I just installed 1.5" BJ spacers on my 91' 4Runner and I'm looking for some new front shocks.
Is OME really good? Know of any cheap places to buy OME brand new? Any other brands you can recommend for the 1.5" lift? I know I can choose from Superlift, ProComp, Doetsch Tech and maybe Bilstein. I just want a good pair up front.
If you have BJ spacers on your truck tell me what shocks you're running....

x2 on rancho. My 'runner came with BJ spacers, OME rear springs and rancho shocks. I probably wouldn't have put them on myself, but pounding around the barely improved road systems of New York City with reckless aplomb, I am absolutely floored with how smooth these things ride over bumps at speed that would be bone jarring in any other vehicle I drive. I highly recommend them, if for nothing other than our particular application.

Rancho's work well and are reasonably priced. The paint on the outside is not great. Mine showed signs of surface rust within a year, but it doesn't effect how they work.

Haven't decided on a brand yet, I think I found the right model number of Bilstein's to handle the BJ spacer lift. Some shocks are only rated at 0-1in. of lift, like some Rancho's I've found. Does 1/2 of an inch make a difference since my BJ spacers are 1 1/2"?

Yes 1/2 an inch could cause your shocks to overextend and break. I know when I bought my Ranchos I was asked if my vehicles had any sort of lift since longer shocks could be ordered to handle a lift

I have the OME's on my rig with 1.5" BJ spacers, 2" OME springs in the rear.
They fit perfect, even with the BJ spacers, no length issues. I had Rancho RS5000's on there before the lift, they also worked well.

I dont own a runner but when my truck was stockish i had rancho rs9000's i really liked the adjustability of them. i could adjust the stiffness depending on the kind of ride i wanted. like for offroading i would stiffen the shock to take hard hits. and on the road i could lessen the stiffness for a smooth ride. just my .2$

If that's the case then it looks like I have a few to choose from. 4crawler says that Rancho RS5167 will work. 4 Wheel Parts has Bilstein F4B461468H0 listed for 0-2" of lift, also OME N92 and N98 and Skyjacker N8052.
