Shell RotellaT synthetic 5w-40
ok so quick review on this. just did an oil change with a mobil extended performance filter and started driving it around, and wow, i noticed a distinctive difference in performance from the 10w-30 mobil 1 extended perfomance oil i was using before. I will update after i wheel tomorrow and do some highway driving. The oil pressure was very good right off start up and sits a little higher at idle which i like. another thing that is cool is that it is certified by, toyota, ford, gmc/chevy, nissan, dodge, etc for gas engines, as well as being certified by cummins, mack, volvo, catapiller and detroit diesel. best part it is full synthetic and only 16 bucks a gallon!

You'll notice in the very fine print he posted (what's with small fonts, Alex..lol?) he said it was certified for gasoline engines.....by Toyota, no less.
Keep note of your gas mileage, Alex. I'm interested in the results you'll see....any and all of them.

I used Rotella T 10w30 in my 87 with excellent results. I'd be using it now except that it is hard to find around here. Being certified for Diesel engines just means it is designed to work at higher pressures and temps [like you might find in our engines] without breaking down. I might try the Rotella synth. next change if I can find it.

i've used it in my v twin yamaha quite a bit. I tried it after reading positive endorsement from other riders in my V-Star 1100 forum. Good price at Sprawl-mart by the gallon. (Safe for wet clutches cuz no friction modifiers. But I prefer them in my high mileage 4cyl so I don't use it in the 'runner with +200k mi)

well, typically its used by diesel trucks, and typically diesel trucks buy oil in bulk quantity, not by the gallon, and is installed by a service tech at a truck depot.
but it is a good multipurpose fluid. keep in mind tho that it doesn't have friction modifiers like most 30 and 40 weight motor oils you'd find at an auto parts store.
i find more support for it by motorcycle users looking for an affordable oil they can use with wet clutches. mobil one is great but it's pricey, like many other cycle specific oils.
i've found it at some sprawlmarts (not all), check there. depends how big their auto section is, which can vary.

I thougth about trying it but I only drive about 9k miles a year on my truck so my M1 syn gets changed about every 10 months so the cost isn't an issue.
